Monday September 25th

I was not at school today but wanted you to update you on what we will be working on this week in class.  Our weekly homework program which would normally be given out on Monday will begin tomorrow. Your child will come home with a duo tang tomorrow explaining how this will work.  They are asked to read twenty minutes per night and write a brief summary of what they have read (only about two sentences) and get a parents initial.  The duo tang is due back on Friday.  Some weeks, there will also be a math sheet to complete. (The reading log can begin Tuesday this week).  In math, we are continuing to learn about place value up to 10 000 and will soon turn our attention to rounding numbers.  Our focus in language arts is reviewing what we know about "fix up" strategies and extending our understanding of using adjectives to add further interest to our writing.
