This morning we visited the Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Commons. It will be set up all week.  Parents will have the opportunity to visit this with their child on Friday morning during our Open House.  We worked on a school-wide math challenge called "The Car Caravan" which involved all the children solving the same problem relating to a picture of cars.  Student work will be posted on our walls for the rest of the week. We used our KWC model where children identified what they know, what they would like to know and the constraints or conditions the problem presents.  These challenges involve students working in groups to collaborate on sharing their strategies of how to solve a problem efficiently and to communicate their understanding using math language.  Please note that a 2-sided math sheet went home today which will be due Friday.  Weather permitting, the class will be participating in Clean Up The Capital during block three tomorrow.
