Thursday Morning

We had a busy but great morning.  Our class is finishing up a lot of unfinished work (e.g., "pourquoi tales", etc).  We are beginning our unit on poetry which has always proven to be a class favourite in the past. The children are beginning to design their title pages and some students have begun working on "cinquains."  Some of the different types of poetry we will be writing and learning about include free verse, haikus, limericks, alphabet poetry, shape poems and monster poems. Together, we have been reading many poems from authors such as Shel Silverstein and Jack Petrulsky.  In math, we will be wrapping up area and volume sometime during the next week and will be turning our attention to probability.  Looking forward to seeing families tomorrow morning at our Open House.
