Tuesday

We began our morning by meeting with Mr. Caron's Class to work on a math problem solving activity together.  We used our KWC Model (what I know; what I would like to know; and the constraints or conditions that are present that present challenges) to answer questions based on a picture of a couch made entirely of egg cartons!  For example, we determined that we knew there were five rows of eggs at the front of the couch, we wanted to know how many egg cartons there were altogether; and a constraint was that we couldn't see the back of the couch so we had to estimate how many cartons were there.  Our class partnered with the grade threes to tackle our questions together, share strategies and explain our thinking. We will meet again next week to continue our collaboration.  After recess, the students practised calculating elapsed time and reading analog clocks in preparation for our quiz Thursday. We met in the Learning Commons to practise our Christmas Song as well.
