Wednesday

I was away yesterday so we began the morning by catching up on the learning that happened in my absence. Students attended our Ash Wednesday Liturgy at 8:45 a.m. We then had the opportunity to go to Mrs. Kalil's grade five class to see their projects on the human body and to ask questions about what we saw. After recess, we discussed what Lent means to us as Catholics.  We read some articles on the Smartboard which outlined Pope Francis' Lenten message. Pope Francis has chosen the theme, "He became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich." We learned that this theme comes from a verse from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians where the apostle is promoting generosity in giving and wishes "to test the genuiness of your love by your concern for others."  The students copied this message in their Family Life Notebooks and we reflected on what these words really mean.
