Monday Morning...

We began our first block by handing out our weekly homework and going over the questions together. Time was spent reviewing our multiplication facts (up to 11 x 11) on the Smartboard. We worked on algebra problems and discussed how looking for relationships helps us to solve these questions. During our Language Block, we watched a trailer for our read aloud "The One and Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate and discussed what kind of message the author was delivering by her choice of the music and images she chose. To help develop our writing skills, grade fours explored what sentence fluency means. We discussed the importance of including sentences of varying lengths and of using different forms of punctuation to make our writing more interesting to our readers. Students then worked in groups to "bump up" a piece of writing so that it would be more interesting. Have a wonderful evening!
